Why SOC 2 Matters in Programmatic Media

Strategus has officially passed our SOC 2 audit for the third straight year.
That means an independent auditor reviewed how we handle data, manage access, monitor systems, and oversee vendors, verifying that our controls meet rigorous standards.
Anyone working in programmatic media understands how much data moves behind the scenes. Campaigns interact with multiple systems across targeting, delivery, measurement, reporting, and optimization. In an environment this interconnected, structure and clearly defined oversight are essential.
So, What Is SOC 2?
SOC 2 (System and Organization Controls 2) is an independent audit focused on how a company protects and manages data. It evaluates five areas: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
During the audit, external reviewers assess access controls, policy documentation, monitoring procedures, vendor management practices, and incident response protocols. The outcome is a third-party report verifying that those controls are properly designed and operating effectively.
Why It Matters in Programmatic Media
When brands partner with Strategus, they entrust us with meaningful data and meaningful investment. That includes audience data, CRM integrations, first-party insights, and performance measurement across channels such as CTV, display, online video, audio, and more.
All of those pieces connect. When platforms and systems are this intertwined, risk moves with them. A data leak, a loose permission setting, or a poorly managed vendor relationship can disrupt campaigns and create avoidable setbacks. In a channel built on accountability, even small oversights can carry weight.
Clear controls exist to reduce those risks and protect both performance and client trust.
SOC 2 verifies that:
- Access to systems is restricted and logged
- Policies are documented and enforced
- Controls are tested regularly
- Vendor relationships are reviewed
- Security procedures are maintained across the organization
That structure supports the stability and reliability behind every campaign we manage.
Our Partners Meet the Same Standard
That responsibility does not stop with our internal operations.
The technology platforms, data providers, and measurement partners we work with also maintain SOC 2 compliance. Before integrating with any vendor, we evaluate their security posture and governance standards. This ensures that the broader ecosystem supporting a campaign operates within audited and validated environments.
The systems surrounding a campaign are just as important as the strategy guiding it.
What This Means for Clients
As programmatic budgets grow, oversight increases. Procurement teams conduct security reviews, legal teams request documentation, and brands expect clear answers about governance and risk management.
Because we maintain SOC 2 compliance, those conversations move efficiently. We provide structured documentation and independent validation from the outset, helping clients move from review to execution faster.
Strong performance depends on strong systems. SOC 2 ensures those systems are in place.
